Vers 9 heures, sur la route qui monte vers Sixt, de vaillants rayons de soleil illuminent la paroi verticale d’un mont qui surplombe le Giffre. Ensemble de facettes irisées, aux couleurs variant des bleus métalliques aux ocres, tel une composition de Braque, seule palette colorée de la journée à s’offrir aux yeux. Pendant toute la randonnée, nous évoluerons dans un camaïeu de blancs, gris jusqu’au gris noir des nuages, et de noir formé par les ensembles denses des grands résineux. Le moral des troupes reste ensoleillé, heureusement, malgré la neige qui s’est invitée en milieu d’après-midi et l’enveloppe ouatinée qui gonfle comme une baudruche.</ins></div></td></tr>

Les voitures décollent du chalet à 8 heures 45, comme d’habitude. Direction Sixt-Fer-à-Cheval. Nous suivons le cours du Giffre qui coule au fond d’une large vallée. Le Giffre, affluent de l’Arve, est un charmant torrent qui prend sa source dans le ''Fer à Cheval'', cirque de Sixt. De grosses bourgades s’y sont développées, ensembles de chalets, du simple au très élaboré. Nous traversons Sixt puis Salvigny où nos garons les voitures. Au loin, une cascade bien nourrie dégringole des hauteurs, la cascade du Rouget nous attend.</ins></div></td></tr>

Au niveau de la Feulattière, nous apercevons les voitures sur le parking en contrebas. Nous sommes aussi au sommet du tremplin à sauts. Quatre indisciplinés, pressés d’en finir ou envie de s’amuser une dernière fois, descendent le raidillon qui longe le tremplin. Les sages font le tour par le pont où la neige s’arrête brutalement, déchaussent et franchissent les derniers mètres le long du ruisseau pour rejoindre le parking.</ins></div></td></tr>
