Le soleil est déjà bien vaillant et chaud. Puis deux heures trois quarts de marche sur un épaulement, en suivant un sentier en balcon, assez raide, pour atteindre le col Nazié (1902 m). Après le col, encore trois quarts d’heure de montée jusqu’au plateau d’Emparis le long d’un chemin qui traverse un espace très ouvert avec le massif de la Meije et le Râteau (3809 m), devant nous. Nous entamons une descente qui longe encore quelques lacs dont le lac Lérié, niché lui aussi sur le plateau d’EmParis. Au passage d’un gué, Gauthier glisse et se trempe un pied. Nous traversons des alpages sur un sentier très large, dépassons les ruines du chalet Josserand, continuons cette descente interminable, fastidieuse, sous un soleil de plomb jusqu’au bas du village du Chazelet.
